The number of entries has just passed the 300 mark, so far there are 311 entries (including 22 re-entries), which now takes the total entries to a whopping 1,027 players, growing the prize pool to over $200,000! There is still another 90 minutes left in the late registration period, so there are still many more entries and re-entries expected to join in on the action.

With such a large field, there are so many familiar faces who like to come to the events here at Playground; Reuben Percival, Isabelle Trembley, Richard Figial, Brigitte Metivier, Prosper Azoulay, Terry Caulcutt, Dat Doan, Walter Asatoorian, Brigitte Korak, Linda Huard, Debra Ann Holman, Yannick Labattaglia, and Mohammadamin Khalilian, just to name a few.

The tournament director has just announced, “Dealers… shuffle up and deal“, and the cards are now in the air! There were well over 100 entries as the first hand was dealt, and now that we are almost 20 minutes into level one, there are now more than 200 players who have taken their seats and are here to try to bag at the end of level 14.

The turnout has been nothing other than spectacular in the first three flights, and with a such a strong start this evening for the final Day 1 flight, we can only expect that the prize pool may even grow to double the guarantee, so, that means, double the payouts and double the amount of players who get paid.

Late registration is open right up until the end of the first break after level 6 (10:15pm), and, just in case you suffer a cooler, there are also unlimited re-entries available until the start of level 7.

Come join the action and see if you can bag the biggest stack for Day 2.

65 players advance from Day 1C

    May 15, 2019May 15, 2019 | 5:08pm | Playground

Day 1C, the turbo starting flight of the Playground 200, brought out yet another large field and put the players through their paces in a whirlwind of action that wrapped up in only four hours.

The early levels were full of fast action and re-entries that helped this flight gather 189 entries. The strong turnout pushed the total number of entries for the first three Day 1s to 716, already smashing the $100,000 guarantee with another starting flight yet to come.

By the end of the flight, there were 65 players left sitting to bag chips for tomorrow’s Day 2. These players were led by Alon Messica, who will carry forward 175,500 in chips. Messica jumped out to the early chip lead this afternoon, and, despite traversing a rough patch following the break, was able to maintain a big stack through the late stages and emerge as this flight’s chip leader. But he is closely followed by several players from Day 1C and still has a long way to go to catch up to some of the bigger stacks that advanced from Day 1A and Day 1B. In all, 195 players have advanced stacks to Day 2. For the full list of Day 1 chip counts, click here.

Tonight is your last chance to take part in the Playground 200. The final starting flight, Day 1D, starts tonight at 7:00pm. This is one you don’t want to miss!

    Last hour of play

    May 15, 2019 | 2:59pm | Playground

The field is slowly but steadily shrinking as we enter the late stages of Day 1C.

As expected, the pace of play slowed down following the end of the re-entry period, leaving 99 runners in contention at this point. The first ten levels of play passed by faster than most players anticipated, and the realization that only one hour remains is likely to spur more than a few players into action; expect to see many in the field adopt a “boom-or-bust” approach to the final levels.

Here is an updated look at some of the remaining players:

    May 15, 2019 | 2:24pm | Playground

Play has just resumed following the first break of the day in Day 1C, and 131 players remain in contention.

Thanks to the great turnout and fast action in the early levels, there are lots of chips in play, and many players were able to capitalize and run up some huge stacks. Many in the field managed to more than double-in some cases even triple-their starting stacks. Although the pace of play might slow somewhat, the deep stacks mean that the players have lots of possibilities at their disposal so expect to see some creative lines throughout the remaining levels of play.

    Registration closed on Day 1C

    May 15, 2019 | 1:53pm | Playground

The late registration and re-entry period has just ended on Day 1C of the Playground 200 but not before waves of players rushed to the cashier to (re-)enter, pushing the number of entries to 189 on the day, including 26 re-entries.

With 275 entries on Day 1A and 252 entries on Day 1B, today’s field brought the total number of entries in this event to 716, enough to exceed the prize pool guarantee by over 40 percent. Tonight’s Day 1D is likely to be more popular than the previous flights so there’s no telling how big the prize pool will get!

The players are approaching the first break of the afternoon, stay tuned for a leaderboard update.

The players sprinted out of the blocks on Day 1C. With nearly an hour played, there have already been 158 entries, including 13 re-entries.  Everyone is aware that the prize pool is set to go far beyond the $100,000 guarantee for this event, and the players are pulling out all the stops to make sure they bag as many chips as possible from this flight.

There remains roughly 30 minutes in the late registration and re-entry period so there’s still time to get in on this afternoon’s turbo action. In case you can’t make it to Playground in time for this flight, the fourth and final Day 1 will get underway this evening at 7:00pm.
