The biggest pot of the tournament so far was just played between Philippe Sousa, Andrew Knowles and Qi Hu, three players among the top stacks in the field.
Sousa opened to 275K. Knowles called. Hu made it 1,350,000 to go, and that bet was called by both opponents.
Flop:
Hu checked, and Sousa put in a feeler bet of 925K, rather small considering the size of the pot. Both players called.
Turn:
Both Hu and Souza checked, and Knowles announced all-in. As Hu was trying to figure out where he stood, Knowles slowly advanced his stacks forward. He had 4,840,000. Hu had a simlar amount, and after taking off his glasses and putting them back on a few times, he finally folded. Philippe Sousa, however, made the call instantly, in a slow gesture. Hole cards were shown.
Knowles:
Sousa:
Knowles had flopped the world! His hand was a marginal one, but how could he refuse such good odds of coming into a 3-way pot against 2 enormous stacks. Sousa was drawing to a king or a non-eight club.
River:
Knowles let out a sincere “Come on!” He scooped a pot of about 17M chips, far beyond any other arsenal.
