    Day 3 is a wrap

    September 2, 2019September 2, 2019 | 1:29am | Playground

After 10 one-hour levels, players can finally bag their chips and go enjoy a well-deserved night of sleep. From the 316 players that started the day only 38 remain and will come back tomorrow at 13h00 for the 4th and final day of the WSOP-C Playground Main Event.

Day 3 was an all-Roussy-Majeau affair, as the young man led the way from 2:00pm and until the last level of play when he dropped a couple of positions. Philippe Sousa, second at the last break, will enjoy the pole position when the action resumes.

There will be a full redraw before tomorrow, and the seat assignment, along with full counts, will be posted here some time before the restart.

Tomorrow, we crown a champion. This person will take $300,000, the Main Event circuit ring, and an entry into WSOP-C Monterrey. See you tomorrow!

Danielle Bracy had a great day at the tables, not quite making the top of the leaderboard but constantly building and staying close to the leading pack. With 30 minutes left to Day 3, she caught an amazing break. She was already pretty invested against Frédéric Normand on a 8 of Diamonds 2 of Clubs 10 of Clubs 4 of Diamonds board, looking at a pot of a couple million chips. The Jack of Spades river fell, and she checked. Normand put out an 800K bet.

Bracy shoved, which stunned Normand. On the river, he bet more than half of what he had left, so he was looking at a rather small amount to call relatively to the total pot. However, it was his tournament life, and he had a strong feeling that his rival improved on the last street even more than he did. After a very long tank, he called.

Bracy: 9 of Diamonds 7 of Spades
Normand: Jack of Hearts 10 of Hearts

Qi Hu, who has been on our radar all day, continued doing well and he is on the 3rd step of the podium. Philippe Sousa more than doubled his belongings in the last 2 levels and is now sitting in 2nd place with over 6M. The leader is none other than Samuel Roussy-Majeau, the player who’s been sitting in the driver’s seat for nearly 10 hours. Six players are currently enjoying over 4M in chips, and are listed below:

He shares that table with Dannick Landriault, who has been looking to crack the 3M mark for a while. Here is a list of all players who did just that:

For those of you who don’t know him yet, meat Armand King, known in the poker world as The Oyster King. The man owes his nickname to his decades of seafood trade. The King celebrated his 83rd birthday yesterday, and today he is playing Day 3 of the WSOP-C Playground Main Event, high-fiving his fans on neighbouring tables, looking lively as a 20-year-old.

His first feat at Playground was in 2016 when he came in the runner-up in the infamous Quantum, a month-long tournament with multiple price entry points, part of the inaugural World up of Cards. That netted him $33,000. Since then, he played nearly every festival hosted at Playground. His best result at our club since the Quantum was in May of this year. He finished 4th in the Playground 1000, part of the MILLIONS North America festival, for $20,060.

It is always a pleasure to have him over, to hear his cheerful remarks and to watch the joy that he inspires in others. If you see him in the room, make sure to give him a shout out, or even just a smile!

The first stint saw a lot of chip movement and created quite a few deep stacks. Jishant Sapra continued his hard work and would have snatched back the top spot if it wasn’t for Tony Lei’s last minute jump on a nearby table.

Lei, on the button, open raised with 23K. Jonathan Schaler made it 90K to go. Tony raised again to 273K, called Jonathan’s shove, which was close to 800K, and showed Ace of Hearts Ace of Spades. Schaler had King of Hearts King of Diamonds. Aces prevailed.
