The World Cup of Cards is largely known for offering formats that are rarely seen in poker festivals – tournaments with unusual descriptions and buy-ins ranging from $110 to $330. These events are a great opportunity to play uncommon but fun variants of the game, in the context of a serious festival, with a trophy and increased bragging rights on the line. Let’s take a look at them:
- Event #1 – $400 + $40 Tag Team
The biggest Tag Team tournament to date. Team up! Click here for all the info.
- Event #6 – $100 + $10 Survivor
Plays down to 10% of the field, at which point the tournament ends and every survivor gets an equal share.
- Event #9 – $150 + $15 Shootout Turbo
In true Sit&Go spirit! Win your table and move to the finals, where everyone gets paid!
- Event #11 – $150 + $25 Strangers in the Night
A charity event. Who says the gift of giving can’t come with a big prize pool to play for? Click here for all the info.
- Event #12 – $300 + $30 Roll the Dice 8-Max Re-entry
An actual 6-face game die is thrown on the table by the player on the button to determine the game played on that hand. A mixed game with a twist!
- Event #14 – $100 + $10 NL Short Deck Hold’em Re-entry
Play with 36 cards! Before playing, make sure to read the Special Rules paragraph in the structure sheet linked above.
- Event #15 – $100 + $20 + $100 Crazy Pineapple 8-Max 50/50 Bounty Re-entry
Crazy Pineapple is a 3-card game. Throw one away after the flop betting round. The rest of the hand is played just like hold’em.
- Event #16 – $150 + $15 Seniors’ Event
You have to be 50 years of age or older to play, but hoodies and sunglasses are allowed!
- Event #18 – $150 + $15 Women’s Event
No men allowed! A testosterone-free poker tournament!
- Event #23 – $100 + $10 NL Short Deck Hold’em Re-entry
Same as Event #12, but with a more modest buy-in.
The World Cup of Cards also presents two PLO tournaments. The game is gaining popularity every year, and so do our own PLO events. If you know and love the variant, you will not want to miss these two gems. Four cards please!
- Event #7 – $100 + $20 + $100 PL Omaha 50/50 Bounty Re-entry
Unlimited re-entries, and a heavy bounty? I’m in!
- Event #24 – $200 + $20 PL Omaha 3 Lives Re-entry
Three life chips to work with, use them as you see fit. If those are not enough, re-enter!
