We are just a few weeks into the new year, and it’s time for Playground to host Winter’s Hottest Festival: the World Cup of Cards! The WCC, with its combined guarantees of over $2,000,000, is the very definition of variety. Tournament buy-ins range from $110 to $1650 with a blend of rarely seen formats, high-value satellites, and, of course, 3 marquee events with huge guarantees:
The Grand Prix Canada is a $220 buy-in tournament with a guarantee of $500,000! There are 17 Day 1s, including 5 online on partypoker. The online flights are held on 5 consecutive days at 8PM starting this Sunday, with $22 satellites starting 2 hours prior, each with 10 seats guaranteed. The whole event is by far the most impressive buy-in/guarantee ratio! Unlimited re-entries. Don’t miss it!
The WPTDeepStacks, winner of the 4th Annual American Poker Awards Mid-Major Tournament Circuit of the Year, is WCC’s Main Event and biggest buy-in tournament. Priced at $1,650, it boasts a juicy $750,000 guarantee! Re-entries are unlimited during the late registration period, and you can also re-enter on the next Day 1 – there are 3 in total. Satellites have been running every week since early November, and 6 more will be hosted throughout the WCC.
Event #21: Card Player Poker Tour
The Card Player Poker Tour event (CPPT) is the last of our three marquee events on the schedule. It is a great opportunity to earn some left-pocket money at the very end of the festival. This tournament has a $1,100 buy-in and a $250,000 guarantee. There are only 2 Day 1s in the CPPT, and you can only re-enter once per flight. Two satellites will be held for the CPPT, giving players the chance to get in at a fraction of the cost.
You will also find on the WCC schedule a number of MILLIONS Satellites, a 3-Step program with amazing value that can set you up early with a $10,300 seat for partypoker LIVE’s premier high roller poker tournament: MILLIONS North America Main Event. Click this link for a complete rundown of satellites within the WCC.
The World Cup of Cards 2019, as it was in both of its previous editions, is the perfect festival for smaller buy-ins and uncommon formats. It offers great variety, including a Tag Team event, many bounty tournaments, Roll the Dice, 2 Short Deck events, and more! Check out the full list of these fun variants. And if you would like to play for some good money while helping people in need, the Strangers in the Night event is for you!
The WCC, a festival for everyone, has 26 trophies to award. One of them may be yours! Take a good look at the full schedule and make your own!
