As a player, joining the partypoker community comes with a big advantage: your voice is heard! On social media and at partypoker LIVE events, players have been talking about certain features of the online tournament structures that do not contribute to a viable poker ecology, and partypoker was listening. This feedback was digested and is now leading to some very positive changes.
These changes started making their way to the partypoker felts last Sunday, and will continue to be gradually implemented throughout the month of August until the whole tournament schedule – the Power Series – is revamped.
The changes:
- All bounty tournaments become freezeouts
- Far fewer permitted re-entries on most MTTs
- No re-entries on Fast and Turbo events
- Reduced late registration periods (maximum 2 hours)
- “Smooth” structure implemented (maximum 10% cost-per-round increase)
The obvious and positive consequence will be in the average tournament duration. The reduced re-entries and late registration periods will not allow for interminable tournament endings, while augmenting the number of big blinds held in the average stack in the lead up to in-the-money play. In other words, players will be able to enjoy a nice nightly tournament on partypoker and still go to work fresh the next morning!
