Season One of the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS series wrapped up in Barcelona today with the final table of the €10,300 Main Event. After a very long day of poker, Quebec pro Pascal Lefrançois emerged as the last player standing out of 1,175 entries in the tournament – the Champion was crowned!
The word “epic” is sometimes used rather lightly in the poker world, but today’s action on the final table truly deserves that description. The action started with 8 players, and it took more than 4 hours for the first elimination to occur – Belgian Thomas Boivin was sent to the rail in 8th place for a €225,000 payout. Countryman Davidi Kitai followed just a few minutes later. But even with these two eliminations, it would still be more than 10 more hours before the end of the tournament arrived.
Along the way, two of the greatest stars of the past year in poker were dispatched – Lefrançois personally sent superstars Dominik Nitsche and Stephen Chidwick to the rail in back to back hands. Their eliminations left just Adam Owen between Lefrançois and the championship.
Lefrançois started HU play with a massive chip lead – just as he had started Days 2, 3, and 4 in the event – but as was the case earlier on Day 4, there was nothing simple or straightforward about claiming the win. As he had done earlier in the day, Lefrançois eventually found himself at a great chip disadvantage to his opponent – and just as he had done earlier, he rallied to book the win – which came with an amazing trophy and €1,700,000!
With the end of Season One, attention turns right away to Season Two in the MILLIONS Series, which is set to begin right here at Playground Poker Club from April 21st to May 2nd.
