The end of December has arrived, and with it comes the end of what has been a fantastic month for Bad Beat Jackpots here at Playground Poker Club. There were a total of 4 BBJ hands in a 10-day period in the middle of the month – two Hold’em Secondary BBJs and two Omaha BBJs – both of those on the same day!
Action kicked off in December on the 9th with a Secondary BBJ on a Hold’em table when the 3 that gave the losing player four-of-a-kind also gave his opponent a straight flush. The players split $25,000 – $12,500 to the loser of the hand, $6,250 to the winner of the hand, and another $6,250 split between the remaining players on the table.
Next up were the two Omaha BBJs – both of them on December 15th, and both on the same table. In the first hand, the hand winner hit a straight flush on the turn – with the jackpot only coming when the river improved the other player from a flopped set to quads. In this case, the progressive Omaha BBJ had reached $24,242 which was split 50% to the loser of the hand, 25% to the winner of the hand, and the remaining 25% to the other Omaha players at the table.
Just a couple of hours later, with the jackpot restarted at $6,242, it was time for the second Omaha BBJ of the day. In this case, the player hit Quad Jacks on the turn while his opponent needed – and received – a 9 on the river to improve to a straight flush to the Queen (in spades).
The final jackpot of the month was another Hold’em Secondary BBJ! In this hand, both players flopped their set – Tens over fours – and then the player with trip tens improved to an unbeatable Quad Tens while the fourth 4 only came on the river for the other player. As always, the Secondary Hold’em BBJ was fixed at $25,000 that was split among the players as usual – 50% to the loser of the hand, 25% to the winner of the hand, and the final 25% shared among the remaining players on the table.
As we prepare to turn the page to 2016, the Primary BBJ is currently over $415,000, and it’s looking like some lucky cash game player will start the new year off with a bang!
