The Playground Poker Spring Classic presented by partypoker.net is in full swing. The first three bracelets have been awarded in Event 1, Event 2 and Event 4; with Event 3 (The $250 Frenzy), set to conclude tonight.
The Wild $150 was a blockbuster event attracting 1188 entries over 4 starting flights. On the final day of play, 24 hopefuls returned, each with the same goal in mind winning the top prize of $28,780.00. The last 3 tables were made up of a who’s who of the Montreal poker scene, with Rick Shamshoum edging out his competition to take home the first bracelet of the 2015 Spring Classic.
Event 2 was next on the agenda, a $200 + $20 Freeze. After 9 hours of poker, the 148 player starting field was whittled down to 6, at which point the remaining prize money was restructured at their request. When it was all said done though, Christopher B emerged as our second Spring Classic bracelet winner.
The most recent event to conclude was Event 4, a $100 + $10 Deepstack Turbo that began on April 28th at noon. 136 players joined the tournament, which generated a prize pool of $13,192. Turbo events are typically fast affairs, but even with a quickly arranged bubble save, the final table didn’t come together until 7pm. By 8:30pm we had our champion – Rejean Grenier outlasted the field to win $2,893.00 a nice prize for a $110 tournament!
Now the Spring Classic turns to some of the larger events, starting with the $550 Freeze on April 28th and followed by the $1,100 WPT Warm-up, the $3,200 + $300 partypoker.net WPT Canadian Spring Championship, and the $1,500 + $150 Second Chance event.
