The Playground Poker Spring Classic presented by partypoker.net has come to a close and over the 18 days of (almost) non-stop poker tournament action, more than $2.1M in prizes was awarded to players from all over North America and around the world!
This year’s edition of the Spring Classic was the first time partypoker.net became the sponsor for the entire festival, and with their support there were 4302 total entries in the 16 events we hosted, starting with The Wild $150 on Sunday April 19th all the way through the WPT Canadian Spring Championship to the closing event, the $200 + $30 + $100 Bounty event!
The cornerstone event of the Spring Classic was the partypoker.net WPT Canadian Spring Championship, which saw 370 entries compete for a top prize valued at over a quarter million dollars! At the end of the 5-day event, Sheraz Nasir emerged victorious, edging out Lu Chanel Zhang after a battle that was the focus of the final table action throughout.
Some great champions emerged from the other festival events as well. Francois Goulet, a frequent visitor for big events at Playground, won the $500 + $50 Freeze for a $15K prize, and Montreal veteran poker champion Philippe Belley took down the $1000 + $100 WPT Warm-up event and its top prize of $44500. A new event in this year’s Spring Classic was the $1500 + $150, and on the 2nd day of play Jason Conforti took the top prize of $37105 over second-place finisher Ratharam Sivagnanam, who was also the runner-up in last year’s WPT Montreal!
A warm Playground Poker Club thank you to all of the players in any of the events in this year’s Spring Classic, as well as to our friends at the World Poker Tour, the WPT Live crew, the Royal Flush Girls, and of course to everyone at partypoker.net.
