    6-Max 50/50 Bounty Re-entry Champion: Martin Millette

    January 21, 2020January 21, 2020 | Playground

Event #5 of the 2020 World Cup of Cards, the $100 + $20 + $100 6-Max 50/50 Bounty Re-entry, had a total of 209 entries. The prize pool guarantee of $20,000 was more than doubled, with $40,546 ($19,646 in payouts plus $20,900 in bounties) awarded.

The evening was action-packed and full of excitement as players hunted for those $100 bounty chips. The chip lead changed hands many times throughout the evening. Once the money bubble burst, the eliminations happened in rapid succession until the 7-handed final table was formed.

On the final table the blinds were starting to get large, and six of the seven players had almost identical stacks. Because of this dynamic, the players agreed to an ICM chop that left an additional $835 for the eventual tournament champion. The following table lists the ICM payouts.

Seat First Name Last Name Stack ICM Payout
    1MartinMilette750,000$2,000

    6AnthonyBelanger-Nader350,000$1,410
    7EmileH.790,000$2,050

As soon as play resumed, there was a series of bustouts. Eventually, play went heads-up between Emile H and Martin Millette. Emile got his chips in good on more than one occasion, but Millette kept spiking the right card to take down the pots. On the final hand of play, Emile had open shoved Ace of Hearts 2 of Spades for about 11 big blinds, Millette decided make the call, as he felt was time to gamble. It ended up being a good decision for Millette.

Emile: Ace of Hearts 2 of Spades
Millette: Queen of Spades 10 of Diamonds

All went well for Emile on the 5 of Spades 6 of Spades 7 of Diamonds flop, as well as on the 3 of Clubs turn, however, the 10 of Hearts river gave Millette a pair and the win!

Congratulations to Martin Millette, the 6-Max 50/50 Bounty Re-entry champion!
