Denyse “Omaha Queen” Mignault wins the $90 Freeze

    February 24, 2019February 24, 2019 | Playground

The heads up action was set up to be quick, with Yannick Bourque Patry having a huge lead on Denyse Mignault. Both players were obviously starting to show signs of fatigue, and the end seemed near.

Right off the bat, Denyse doubled up in the first hand, armed with pocket Kings and 520,000 chips. After this quick hand, she managed to go all in 6 of the next 8 hands. Yannick seemed unable to get his hands on any decent cards at all.

The blinds went up to 30K/60K and the pace intensified even more. Yannick stayed stone-faced and impassive throughout the match up, and tried as much as he could to prevent his chips from bleeding into Denyse’s stack. But it was a loosing battle. After 5 or 6 hands Denyse was now chip leader and was showing no signs of easing off the pedal.

Every time Yannick raised or 3-bet, he was met with a fiesty “all in”, and he just didn’t seem to be getting strong enough hands to fight back. The chips went back and forth for a few levels until a monster hand that changed everything. Denyse raised on the button to 130,000. Yannick quickly raised all-in and Denyse called. At this point, Yannick had a few more chips than Denyse. Denyse tabled Queen of Diamonds Jack of Hearts and Yannick turned over Ace of Hearts 9 of Spades. The window was all Denyse needed and she scooped up 90% of Yannick’s chips with 2 pairs on a King of Hearts 7 of Spades Jack of Clubs 4 of Clubs 4 of Diamonds board.

In the last hand Yannick got a nice hand: 3 of Hearts 3 of Clubs. Denyse faced an automatic call and tabled Ace of Spades 7 of Diamonds. The dealer quickly ran the complete board: 6 of Clubs Jack of Diamonds 4 of Spades 7 of Clubs 9 of Diamonds. Denyse ended up with a pair of 7s and that was the end of Yannick’s tournament.

So Yannick Bourque Patry finishes in 2nd place and Denyse Mignault is crowned the champion of Even #4 of the Playground Power Weekend.

    1st place: Denyse Mignault, $2,952

    The winning hand

2nd place: Yannick Bourque Patry, $2,200
