Day 1B of the WPTDeepStacks brought out a huge field of players who made a total of 289 entries to this event. The huge turnout brought the prize pool of the WPTDeepStacks beyond its $500,000 guarantee, before the final starting flight, Day 1C, even started. Once late registration ends on Day 1C, the prize pool will be finalized; one thing is for sure, there will be some huge payouts to be had!

Day 1B got off to a lively start, as players took a very aggressive approach in the early levels. The re-entries started slowly but added up quickly towards the midpoint of the flight. In all, there were 58 re-entries, which helped put nearly 8.7 million in chips in play.

When the dust settled at the end of the flight, it was Richard Wierzba who emerged with 375,700 in chips to bag the chip lead from Day 1B. Wierzba flew under the radar for most of the day, before going on a tear in the late stages of play. And Wierzba wasn’t the only play to have success during the last two levels; Ryan Yu went on a heater to collect 363,900 in chips and overtake longtime chip leader Jaered Besse, who finished with 298,500 in chips, the third largest stack from this flight.
