It has been a wild action packed day so far with players trying hard to become “bounty chip rich”. For many it’s working, for some others, well, the re-entries are still open for a little bit longer.

Hearing the dealer (Benoit D.) announce “ALL IN” a few times in a row was cause for us to head over to table 80 to catch the action. There was an early position limper and when action was on Jonathan Robinette in the cut off seat he moved his stack into the middle to signal an all in bet. Miguel Cholette went all in (over) in the small blind, and low and behold, Dejan Kovinic joined the party, also going all in from the big blind. The limper folded.

Robinette: King of Clubs King of Diamonds
Cholette: 7 of Spades 7 of Clubs
Kovinic: 6 of Clubs 6 of Hearts

Robinette was in great shape. The dealer fanned out the Queen of Clubs King of Hearts Ace of Diamonds flop and Robinette hit top set to stay in the lead. The 4 of Hearts turn and Ace of Clubs river didn’t help the others as Robinette boated up and picked up some well needed chips, while Kovinic picked up a nice side pot.

There will be another break shortly and it will allow us to produce the second leaderboard of the day.

The aggressive players are out in force today looking for the $250 bounty action.

Playground regular cash game and tournament player Tu Kham Tran, who won his first WSOPC ring here at Playground in the $2,200 High Roller this past August loves this type of tournament. He tries to come and play the weekly Friday night $130 Bounty tournament at Playground on a regular basis.

This afternoon he had to make a few re-entries but once again, he found that his stack was dwindling down and in trouble. When action had folded to his button, he shoved his remaining 7,700 chips and received smooth calls from Aaron Quon in the big blind and Mitchell Dredge under the gun.

The flop came King of Spades 2 of Diamonds Queen of Hearts and Quon checked, followed by an insta-shove by Dredge. Quon wanted to make the call but in the end he decided to let go of his hand.

Tran: Ace of Spades 10 of Diamonds
Dredge: King of Diamonds Queen of Spades

A great flop for Dredge but Tran had outs. He bricked the 2 of Spades turn and 10 of Spades river, and his chips and another $250 bounty chip were shipped to Dredge. Tran commented as he was getting up to leave “it’s just not happening today, oh well”.

With the bounty chips flying around the room, there were a lot of players who had double the chip average or higher at the break. With the average stack just under 40,000, Frederic Robert has jumped to the top spot with a stack of 153,300 chips (255 big blinds), followed very closely by Norman Dowdall with 152,700 chips (254 big blinds).

Throughout the room, you can hear the players announcing “all in,”and the dealers saying “players,  open your hands.” The bounty chips are flying!

Welcome to Event #7 of the WPT Montreal, the $250 + $50 + $250 Bounty, where half of the buyin goes to the prize pool, and the other half is for a bounty on each player that you knock out! This exciting format always brings a ton of fast pace all in action, and with 110 players already seated at the tables, it is a given that there is going to be a huge crowd this afternoon.

Players start with 30,000 chips and start 10-handed, then changing to nine-handed and in the later levels, it will become eight-handed. The blind levels are 30 minutes in length and the structure is fantastic, making for a great Sunday afternoon of poker. There are unlimited re-entries available right up until the close of the late registration period at the start of level nine (5:30pm) when the blinds will be  800/1,600.

The prize pool is guaranteed at $50,000, and with the 110 players here right now grinding away, the guarantee has already been surpassed.

The bridge is clear and room is comfortable so we hope to see you soon!

Good luck to all of the players!
