More than half of the entries in this flight have made their exit, leaving 122 players to battle it out for control of as many of the 8.7 million in chips in circulation. The current chip average provides roughly 44 big blinds, which allows nearly everyone left in the field significant depth of play.

The chip leader at the last break, Andrew Sanders, has been maintaining his stack, but his lead is quickly eroding as several other players in the field have been chipping up throughout the last level of play. The former chip leader, Danny Ibrahim, has recovered from his low point but still has some ground to cover before he can challenge for the chip lead.

Play has just resumed following the third break of the flight, and there are still 149vplayers in contention. The late registration and re-entry period is now closed, but there was time to collect 289 entries to this flight before play got underway in level 10. With slightly more than 8.6 million in chips in play, this flight is likely to produce the overall chip leader for the WPTDeepStacks.

For the time being, the chip leader in this flight is Andrew Sanders, with a stack of 184 big blinds. Sanders was second in chips at the last break and found ways to chip up throughout the last three levels to distance himself from the rest of the pack. Former chip leader Danny Ibrahim has fallen off the leaderboard but is still in contention with a stack hovering around the current chip average of 57,000.

The flow of new players and re-entries in this flight has slowed to a trickle, as the final starting flight, Day 1C, got underway a few minutes ago. Nonetheless, the number of entries on Day 1B has surpassed even the most optimistic expectations to bring this event beyond its prize pool guarantee of $500,000. The prize pool will be finalized once late registration ends on Day 1C, but everyone can rest assured that it will be far beyond the guaranteed amount.

There has been a noticeable change in the tactics of many players in this flight. Players were quick to put their chips in the middle earlier on, but now that nearly six hours of play has been completed, most have shifted their approach to a slower tournament grind. Smaller bet sizing and more careful deliberation over each decision has created more stability within the field, and the players with the top stacks at the last break – Danny Ibrahim and Andrew Sanders –  still control some of the largest stacks in play.

Play has just resumed following the second break of the day, and Day 1B has a new chip leader. As previously mentioned, the players in this flight put their chips in play early and often, leading to a complete turnover of the leaderboard and creating 36 re-entries in the process.

There are now over 7.6 million in chips in play, and Danny Ibrahim currently has the largest share. Ibrahim had a rough start to the day and dropped below his starting stack in the early levels, but he stuck to his game and the cards turned in his favour, which allowed him to run up a stack of well over 300 big blinds.

The late registration and re-entry period will remain open for two more hours, giving players until 6:45pm to (re-)enter.

As play approaches the midpoint of level 5, the chips are flying on Day 1B. Given that there is another starting flight this evening at 5:00pm, and that each starting flight permits unlimited re-entries, the players in attendance have brought a highly aggressive approach to this flight. The number of re-entries now stands at 17, which has helped bring up the total number of chips in play to 6.6 million.

There has been a complete upheaval of the leaderboard, as some of the (formerly) big stacks now find themselves below the chip average, while players who were not even on the radar at the first break have built up some imposing stacks.

New players and a handful of re-entries keep rolling in at a steady pace, putting over 5.5 million in chips in play by the first break on Day 1B. So far, eight players have opted to re-enter, pushing the total number of entries to 185 after only two hours of play. Late registration and unlimited re-entries will be available until the beginning of level 10 at 6:45pm.

The current chip leader, Nabil Nahoul, managed to amass a stack of nearly 267 big blinds in the early stages of play, but there is a long way to go in this flight before the chips go in the bag so his lead is far from safe.

As Day 1B enters its third level of play, it has already collected 140 entries, including 4 re-entries. Day 3 of the Main Event is playing out across the tournament hall, and many of the Main Event bustouts are quickly making their way into this flight. The late registration and re-entry period will be open until the beginning of level 10, leaving players more than five hours to get in on this afternoon’s action.

The second of three starting flights for the $1,500 + $150 WPTDeepStacks is about to begin!

The WPTDeepStacks offers a player-friendly structure and guarantees a prize pool of at least $500,000. Players will start this three-day event with stacks of 30,000 in chips to play through 14 levels of 40 minutes on each Day 1. Each Day 1 plays nine-handed, before moving to eight-handed play on Day 2 and Day 3. This is also an unlimited re-entry event with an extended late registration period. Players can enter or re-enter until the beginning of level 10 on each Day 1 and can play multiple Day 1s. Players who qualify for Day 2 more than once will resume play on Day 2 with their largest qualifying stack; all others will be forfeited.

Yesterday’s Day 1 brought out a field of 149 entries, and 26 players advanced stacks to Day 2. To see the Day 1 results, click here.
