Day 2 seating draw

This edition of the WPT500 collected 2,135 entries across 13 starting flights, which allowed 303 players to advance to Day 2. The remaining players are now all in the money and competing for the big prizes at the top of the leaderboard, as well as the 20 Main Event seats for the top finishers in this event.

Day 2 play will continue this afternoon with 30-minute levels of 9-handed play until the field is reduced to the final table. Day 3 will be held tomorrow at 12:00pm and continue until there is a winner.

When play resumes for Day 2 at 1:00pm, the players will be seated according to the following table.

Lescadres leads the top 18 Day 1H qualifiers into Day 2

Day 1h was the final starting flight of the WPT 500. When late registration came to a close, there were a total of 128 entries, which allowed for the top 18 players to bag and tag to head into Day 2.

Being a turbo format with 15 minute blind levels, the lead changed back and forth throughout the evening, and when it was all said and done, Jean-Francois Lescadres had the top stack with 416,500 chips. He was followed by Habib Rachidi Alaoui with 386,500 chips, and Raffi Ghazarian with 350,000. Jonathan B., who was the first break chip leader, had the fourth largest bag with 325,000.

The combined Day 1 results and Day 2 seating draw will be published tomorrow morning. Play resumes for Day 2 tomorrow at 1:00pm. Click here to see the chip counts and seating draw. Play will resume with the blinds at 2,000/4,000.

Kevin Hobbs bags 646,000 to lead the 48 players from Day 1G into Day 2

Day 1G attracted 336 players of which the top 48 bagged for Day 2. One player, Jishant Sapra, leaped to the top with a mega chip stack by the very first break and stayed up top for hours. Kevin Hobbs was also high on the leaderboard throughout the evening and when it was all said and done, he bagged the largest stack of the flight with 646,000 chips. Sapra bagged the second largest stack with 486,500. he was followed by Olivier Bonin with 483,500 thanks to a huge pot that he won late in the evening. Alemu Makonen was in third with 384,500, and Jessie Wheatley, the Playground 200 champion from earlier this week, was right behind with 370,000 chips.

The short stacks have been shoving and both Sterling Webley and David Guay were in the need of chips and ended up getting it in heads up pre-flop.

There was already close to 80,000 in the middle of the table when Olivier Bonin shoved the flop for 142,000. Pierre-Paul Paulin went deep into the tank before finally making the call.

There are now only 36 players seated at the tables all looking to make it to the top 18 spots in order to bag for Day 2. The blinds are starting to creep up and there should be quite a few eliminations over the next level or two, and as the bubble approaches, play will most probably slow down.

Jishant Sapra had maintained his stack for over 2-3 hours but others have finally caught up and now have surpassed him. The new chip leader is Pierre-Paul Paulin who has 422,000, followed in second place by Scott Hite with 404,000. Eric Leblond has also added chips to his stack and is in third with 330,000.

Day 1F sends 67 qualifiers to Day 2

Day 1F of the WPT500 was by far the largest starting flight of this event. It took in a total of 470 entries, a figure which was helped along by 105 re-entries.

This flight was full of wild action from start to finish. Only the first level of the day played out somewhat cautiously. After that, the players found their stride and the chips started flying. Several different notable players held the chip lead at various points, but, in a pattern that was seen in other starting flights, nobody was able to maintain the pole position for very long. Also, the flight’s chip leader only rose to the fore in the late stages of play. Today that was Robert Greenberg. He flew under the radar for most of the flight before capitalizing on some big pots at critical moments as the end of the flight approached. Greenberg bagged 592,500, good enough for the fifth largest stack so far. Greenberg is closely followed by Jordan Saccucci with 577,00 in chips and Jean Luc Joseph, who bagged 535,000.

The combined Day 1 results and Day 2 seating draw will be published tomorrow morning. Play resumes for Day 2 tomorrow at 1:00pm.
