Event #10 of the World Cup of Cards, the $300 + $30 6-Max Re-entry, brought out a huge field that contributed 181 entries, allowing this event to more than double its prize pool guarantee of $25,000. The early stages of play were surprisingly prudent, however, that dynamic changed dramatically following the first break of the day. Following the first break, the players shifted into another gear as three-bets and big pots became the norm. The last weekend before the New Year was a great one for a few players that visited Playground’s Electronic Gaming space. Our machines have the highest payout rate in Canada, and they keep showing it! On Saturday night, Carlos Markakis was playing Raging Rhino. At 9:42, it was time for the Rhino to Rage and Carlos got himself a $2,580 Jackpot! A few hours later, Paolo La Pasta hit his own Jackpot from playing the Empress Gold game for $1,134! 2018: a very busy year!
As the year 2018 comes to an end, we reflect on the amazing ride we’ve had these past 12 months at Playground. Two weeks ago today, the Electronic Gaming Devices section opened its doors. In 14 days, our EGDs paid out $144,420 in jackpots alone! Fifty people hit a jackpot so far, with amounts ranging from $1,000 to $12,509. These figures are amazing, but not surprising, as our machines have the highest payout rate in Canada! A whole lot of people came to see Playground’s latest evolution with their own eyes these past two weeks, and all were pleased with the great atmosphere and the outstanding customer service displayed by our staff. A Thank You Note
The last weekend marked the 8-year anniversary of Playground, and the celebrations were effervescent! 8 years already, what a ride! At the forefront of our celebrations was the Anniversary Series, which provided some rather amazing opportunities. There were 7 events on the schedule, along with a few MILLIONS Step Satellites, each with some unbelievable value. The Playground 200 needs no introduction. Through one Day 1 Online and four live starting flights, 707 entries were accounted for in this edition of our staple event. The hard-fought battle was finally won by Tommy Dion from Granby (pictured on the right), after starting Day 3 with only 6 big blinds! He brought home $15,818.
