$100 + $10 Single Rebuy Champion: Ariel Sherker

    March 2, 2020March 2, 2020 | 4:29am | Playground

The $100 + $10 Single Rebuy kicked off tonight at 8:00pm with a $5,000 prize pool guarantee. By the time late registration was closed, the 81 entries, including 21 re-entries, were able to up the guarantee to $9,894 to put the top 11 in the money.

The chips flew throughout the night as there were no consistent leaders. The field shrunk relatively quickly until the players reached the money bubble and the stakes got higher. Once Marcel Basset was eliminated in fifth place for $820, the final four paused the action and agreed to an ICM deal that would award an additional $320 to the winner.

The ICM Payouts were as follows:

    • Tina Howie – $1,445
    • Serge Roy – $1,575
    • Ariel Sherker – $1,695
    • Vladislav Gulii – $1,719

Serge Roy was the first to be eliminated in fourth place, followed shortly by Vladislav Gulii in third. This left Tina Howie to battle out against Ariel Sherker. Howie initiated the final hand by shoving preflop with Queen of Clubs 4 of Diamonds, Sherker called with 9 of Clubs 9 of Diamonds. The flop definitely worked in Sherker’s advantage, as the 9 of Hearts King of Clubs King of Spades gave her a full house. The turn 4 of Clubs and the river 7 of Hearts were not enough to help Howie and she finished second for $1,445. Sherker was crowned champion and awarded $2,015.

    Congratulations!

Single Rebuy Champion: Ariel Sherker, $2,015

Five players remain at the final table as the clock ticks down on level 19. Competitors have been playing more aggressively with a lot of all-in calls being heard but the size of the stacks seem to intimidate the others to call.

    • Ghislain Pigeon – 6th place, $620
    • Chris Arvanitis – 7th place, $470
    • Mark Howie – 8th place, $350
    • Jonathan Sibony – 9th place $260
    • Nick Giorgio – 10th place, $220

    Play continues…

Single Rebuy is off to a great start with 65 entries midway through level three. The number of entries have already surpassed the $5,000 guaranteed prize pool and there’s still 80 minutes left in the late registration period until 10:15pm. Players are proceeding with caution thus far as they know they only have one chance to rebuy if they bust.

Here’s a look at what’s happening on the floor:
