Pisani leads Day 1D and Mariutti leads Day 1E into Day 2

    March 1, 2020March 2, 2020 | 3:03am | Playground

Day 1E of the $200 + $20 Playground 200 kicked off tonight at 7:00pm. The last starting flight of the tournament was able to attract 155 entries, including 24 re-entries, before the late registration period closed. The combined competitors from Day 1D and Day 1E were able to bring the event well beyond the $100,000 guaranteed prize pool.

The chips flew throughout the night as the stacks seemed to be relatively even. Krzysztof Birecki lead after the second and third breaks but it was Joseph Mariutti who ended the night on top with 302,000 chips. Mariutti leads 36 other competitors into Day 2.

Here are the chip leaders from Day 1E:

    1. Joseph Mariutti – 302,000
    2. Jeremi Kielian – 263,500
    3. Jean-Pascal Gauthier – 249,500
    Joseph Mariutti

Day 1D took place earlier in the day at 11:00am and attracted a total of 193 entries, including 25 re-entries. Danick Morin lead the field at the first break and was followed in second place by John Pisani. Morin was able to bag 149,000 chips but it was Pisani who stole the show today. By the second break, Pisani was on top of the leaderboard and stayed there for the remainder of the flight. He leads 43 other players into tomorrow.

Here are the chip leaders from Day 1D:

    1. John Pisani – 342,000
    2. Placide Junior Sanon – 253,000
    3. Michel Vigneault – 235,000  .
    John Pisani

Day 2 is set to begin tomorrow at 1:00pm. Congratulations to all qualifying players and good luck in Day 2.

Just two levels separate the remaining 55 players from a spot in Day 2. The chips are flying back and forth as the field has become more balanced since the last break. Krzysztof Birecki has been able to hold on to the top spot but he’s down about 20,000 chips since the last count. Birecki now has a stack of 165,000 which is good for 103 big blinds.

It’s definitely anyone’s game in this very even playing field.

67 players continue competing for a spot in Day 2 after surviving the first 11 levels. The average chip stack is now 57,900 and the blinds are at 600/1,200. A lot of all-in calls are being heard from short stack players as they know it’s now or never if they want to keep their chances alive.

Here’s a look at some of the remaining players:

      February 29, 2020 | 11:47pm | Playground

76 players have returned to the floor following their second break and the tension is rising. The short stacks are definitely beginning to feel the pressure from a number of players who have built stacks significantly greater than the 51,000 chip average.

Krzysztof Birecki is the new chip leader with 184,000 in chips, he more than triples the stack average. Only one player, Kiril Martinov Gelev, has managed to remain in the leaderboard following the break. Gelev moves to second place with 150,500.

Francis Hamel has taken the top spot by a landslide with a huge stack of 99,700, currently good for 332 big blinds. Allan Seng Fong has also built up a considerable stack of 75,500, he sits well above the chip average of 32,000.

Late registration will be open for another two hours until 10:15pm before the beginning of level seven. Don’t miss out!

Here’s a look at some early action:

Day 1D: John Pisani bags 342,000 chips to lead another 43 qualifiers into Day 2

      February 29, 2020March 2, 2020 | 7:46pm | Playground

Day 1D of the Playground 200 attracted a total of 193 entries, bringing the event well beyond the $100,000 guaranteed prize pool. Danick Morin lead the field at the first break and was followed in second place by John Pisani. Morin was able to bag 149,000 chips but it was John Pisani who stole the show today, as by the second break he was on top of the leaderboard and he stayed there throughout the rest of the flight.

Level 14 saw some crazy swings and Michel Vigneault was able to capitalize from two key hands that he picked up in the last 20 minutes of play. He started the level with just over 40,000 chips and found a triple-up when he rivered a flush with pocket tens against pocket aces and pocket jacks. A few hands later he doubled up again when he hit top pair on the flop. With his good luck at the end of the day, he was able to bag the third largest stack in play.

The top three stacks are as follows:

      • John Pisani, 342,000 chips
      • Placide Junior Sanon, 253,000 chips
      • Michel Vigneault, 235,000 chips.

The last starting flight, Day 1E has just begun and players have until 10:15pm to join the action.

Day 2 will play at 1:00pm tomorrow, Sunday, and Day 3 will play down to a winner on Monday at 7:00pm.

Day 1E of the $200 + $20 Playground 200 is set to begin shortly at 7:00pm. This is the last of five starting flights for players trying to win a piece of the $100,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Competitors will start with a 25,000 chip stack and play 10-handed through 30-minute blinds. Each Day 1 plays through 14 levels, those that can survive will advance to Day 2, tomorrow at 1:00pm. This is a re-entry event with unlimited re-entries permitted until the end of the late registration period at the beginning of level seven. Re-entry is permitted for any player who loses all their chips or chooses to forfeit their stack. Players may play additional Day 1s even if they have survived a previous Day 1 with chips. Those who qualify for Day 2 more than once will resume play on Day 2 with their largest qualifying stack.

      Good luck to all players!

Play is now in the last level of the flight and players are trying desperately to build their stacks so that they can find a decent bag for Day 2. On table 32, all the chips went into the middle by three of the short stacks.

Michel Vigneault: 10 of Clubs 10 of Spades
Zuhair Al-Pachachi: Ace of Diamonds Ace of Hearts
Hicham El Yamani: Jack of Spades Jack of Diamonds

Al-Pachachi was feeling great, expecting a nice triple-up deep in level 14. The flop fell 2 of Clubs Jack of Clubs 9 of Clubs. All of the sudden Vigneault picked up a flush draw. The King of Diamonds turn was safe for Al-Pachachi, however, the 8 of Clubs river completed a flush for Vigneault who knocked out both opponents while tripling his stack at a critical time.

A few minutes later Vigneault got his chips in with queen-nine and hit a queen on the flop to double-up. Level 14 has been gold for Vigneault.
