The field is slowly but surely narrowing as just 20 women remain in contention for the $2,210 top prize and a spot in the Championship event. Christine Park has built a mountain of chips to extend her lead as play approaches the second break of the afternoon. There is no question that some great poker is being played today with a lot of action ahead.

Here’s a look at some of the remaining players:

The women are in great spirits as they grind it out for today’s $5,000 prize pool guarantee, along with a qualifying spot at the Championship event later this year. It seems many of the players opted for the $5 Add-on of 5,000 chips, as the chip average currently sits at 25,000.

There is still one hour before the late registration period closes at 2:15pm. Competitors are only permitted one re-entry if they lose their chips.

Here’s a look at some early action from the happy players:

The women are back in action for the first event of the $160 + $15 Women’s Series. Today’s event features a guaranteed prize pool of $5,000 and is the first of five open events in the Women’s Series 2020, with the Championship available only for qualifying players. The top 3 finishers in each open event, receive a direct entry to the Championship. Additionally, the top 40% in each open event will receive points toward the series leaderboard, and the top 30 point earners also receive an entry into the Championship, bringing the total to the top 45 women.  $20 will be withheld from each open event buy-in to make up the Championship prize pool.

Players begin this afternoon with 20,000 in chips but have the option of purchasing an “Add-on” of 5,000 chips for $5 at the time of purchase. This is a 10-handed tournament with 20-minute blinds for the first 12 levels. Blinds move to 30-minutes long at the start of level 13 and will be reverted back to 20-minutes when heads-up play begins.  This is a single re-entry event, so competitors are allowed only one re-entry permitted until the end of the late registration period at the beginning of level seven. The final table begins when 10 players remain.

    Good luck to all competitors!
