Bennett bags 1,564,000 to top the turbo

    January 25, 2020 | 4:06am | Playground

The final flight of the night, Day 1G Turbo, attracted 70 entries, including 10 re-entries, hoping to qualify for Day 2 of the Grand Prix Canada. Only the top ten would qualify to continue their quest for a piece of the guaranteed prize pool of $500,000.

Eliminations were happening left and right as the turbo flight lived up to it’s speedy name. It didn’t take long before the field was reduced to the final two tables. Derek Bennett was able to finish the night atop the leaderboard with a stack of 1,564,000. Bennett and the second place finisher Raphael Verdugo, were the only players to become millionaires from the flight. Click here for the full list of combined Day 1 results.

Tomorrow is the final day to qualify for Day 2 which will take place Sunday, January 26 at 1:00pm. There will be three flights beginning at 11:00am, 5:00pm, and 10:00pm. Don’t miss out!

Muset hits the two million mark to lead the day

    January 25, 2020 | 3:36am | Playground

Day 1F of the Grand Prix Canada was a big one, attracting a total of 285 entries, including 72 re-entries.  This action packed event was full of aggressive play as the competitors knew this was one of the last starting flights to qualify for Day 2.

Alexandre Menard topped the leaderboard for the majority of the night but it was Cristian Muset who finished in first with a stack of 2,650,000. He was the only player to cross the two million mark. Rong Xu came from behind to finish in second with 1,361,000 and Menard still sits in a great position in third place for 1,293,000.

Day 1G Turbo Flight is ready for takeoff

    January 24, 2020 | 9:54pm | Playground

Day 1G of the Grand Prix Canada is about to kick off at 10:00pm. Competitors in tonight’s turbo flight will play to qualify for Day 2 on Sunday, January 26 and ultimately for a piece of the $500,000 prize pool guarantee.

Players will start with 100,000 in chips to play through 15-minute blinds until the field is reduced to one in seven entries. Once the money is reached, the remaining players will advance to Day 2. Each Day 1 flight will start 10-handed and move to 9-handed as soon as possible.

The Grand Prix is a re-entry event with unlimited re-entries permitted until the end of the late registration period at the beginning of level 11. Players may enter additional Day 1s even if they have survived a previous Day 1 with chips. Players who qualify for Day 2 more than once resume play on Day 2 with their largest qualifying stack; all other qualifying stacks are forfeited. Players would, however, retain the associated cash prize for every forfeited stack.

    Good luck to all players!
