The Grand Prix Canada has arrived! As the marquee event of the World Cup of Cards, this epic tournament features 15 starting flights and a $500,000 prize pool guarantee for a buy-in of only $200 + $20. Starting flights began this past weekend on partypoker, allowing 46 players to qualify for Day 2. The first two live starting flights, Day 1A and Day 1B, start today at noon and 5:00pm, respectively.

In each starting flight, players will begin with 100,000 in chips to play through as many 30-minute levels as needed to reduce the field to one in seven entries, at which point the money will be reached and the remaining players will advance to Day 2. Each live Day 1 will start 10-handed and move to 9-handed play as soon as possible.

The Grand Prix Canada is a re-entry event with unlimited re-entries permitted until the end of the late registration period at the beginning of level 11, which will arrive at 5:30pm on Day 1A. Players may enter additional Day 1s even if they have survived a previous Day 1 with chips. Players who qualify for Day 2 more than once resume play on Day 2 with their largest qualifying stack; all other qualifying stacks are forfeited. Players would, however, retain the associated cash prize for every forfeited stack.

16 Advance from Online Day 1B

    January 21, 2020 | 5:30pm | Playground

The second of five online starting flights for the Grand Prix Canada, Online Day 1B, took in 111 entries, which allowed the top 16 players to advance to Day 2 at Playground.

These Day 2 qualifiers already have a $400 payout locked up and can take advantage of the unlimited re-entry structure to (nearly) freeroll subsequent starting flights to try to run up a bigger stack, if they so choose.

The combined Day 1 results can be found here.

Play concluded when the field was down to 18 runners, making them the first players to qualify for Day 2 at Playground and secure a $400 payout from this event.

Online Day 1s start this weekend

    January 16, 2020January 16, 2020 | 1:26pm | Playground

The $200 + $20 Grand Prix Canada is a truly epic event that features 15 starting flights with a whopping $500,000 prize pool guarantee. And it starts this weekend!

The Grand Prix Canada takes off on partypoker, with the first of five Online Day 1s, this Sunday, January 19, at 4:00pm.

Players will receive 100,000 in chips to embark on their Grand Prix journeys and play through as many levels as it takes to reduce the field to one in seven entries, at which point the field will reach the money and the remaining players will advance to Day 2. Day 2 takes place at Playground on Sunday, January 26, at 1:00pm.

The Grand Prix Canada is a re-entry event with unlimited re-entries permitted until the end of the late registration period, which ends at the beginning of level 11, on each Day 1. Players may enter multiple starting flights, even if they survived a previous starting flight with chips. Players who qualify for Day 2 more than once resume play on Day 2 with their largest qualifying stack; all other qualifying stacks will be forfeited and credited with the associated cash prize.

Players who want to get the most of the Grand Prix Canada’s unlimited re-entry structure should look into partypoker’s “Play 3 Get 1 Free” promotion. Players who make three entries to Online Day 1s for the Grand Prix Canada will get a free entry to a live starting flight at Playground. All the details can be found here.

Players can qualify for the Grand Prix Canada thanks to a series of online satellites. At least 100 players will be able to play their way in to this event at a huge discount. Check out the full online satellite schedule here.

    Good luck to all!
