After the elimination of Arnold Yaxley in third place ($1,780), Nicolas Majdalani and Rong Xu are now heads-up for the champion trophy. As both players have almost identical stacks, they have decided to do an ICM chop as follows:

• Majdalani: $2,571
• Xu: $2,550

They will now play down to a winner with an additional $270 added to the ICM along with the trophy and associated bragging rights.

Play is down to the final five players and Nicolas Majdalani, a regular here during Playground events, leads the final five.

There are now the final 12 players shooting for the top prize of $3,061!

The 8-Max Shootout Turbo received a healthy turnout that easily covered the $10,000 prize pool guarantee for this single-day event. As play is set to resume in level 7, there are still 79 players in contention, each hoping to outwit, outplay and outlast their table mates so they can advance to the second round.

Event #2 of the World Cup of Cards, the $135 +$15 8-Max Shootout Turbo, is set to begin.

Players will start with 20,000 in chips and play through 15-minute levels in this single-day freezeout tournament. Late registration will be available until the beginning of the seventh level of play at 7:15pm. The prize pool guarantee stands at $10,000 but will likely award far more than that!

The exciting shootout format will play out like a series of single-table tournaments. In order to advance, players must first beat out all the other players at their table before moving on to the second round of play. Only one player per table advances to Round 2. And the final table begins when nine players remain.
