    Rochette dominates the day

    There were a total of 101 entries, including 29 re-entries, for Day 1F of the $200 + $20 Grand Prix Canada. The top 14 players have advanced to Day 2 where they will continue to compete for a guaranteed prize pool of $500,000.

    The leaderboard changed from break to break with a few players rotating around the top position. Some were able to double their stacks by winning huge hands while others were not so lucky. The chip leader for Day 1F is Roy Rochette, who dominated the field in the last few levels to bag 2,246,000 in chips.

    Four players have joined the millionaire club as play resumes into level 16. The tension is high as the field is just three spots away from being in the money and qualifying for Day 2.

    Tanvir Ahmed is the current chip leader with a stack of 67 big blinds. Raphael Ohayon moved to fourth position after winning a three-way all in which doubled his stack.

    The field is down to three tables and the chips are flying. A lot of big hands are being won as players with smaller stacks know it’s now or never if they want to qualify for Day 2. It’s hard to tell who’s currently in the lead but a handful of competitors are piling up the chips.

    Welcome to Day 1F of the $200 + $20 Grand Prix Canada. This is one of the multiple starting flights offered for this exciting event which guarantees a prize pool of $500,000! Click here for more information on players that have already qualified for Day 2 and their combined results.

    Tonight’s event is a turbo flight that will have participants play 10-handed through 20-minute levels.  Players begin with 100,000 in chips and will play until the number of remaining players has been reduced to 1 in 7 entries, at which point the money will be reached.

    This is a re-entry event with unlimited re-entries permitted until the end of the late registration period at the beginning of level 11. Any player that loses their chips or chooses to forfeit their stack is permitted to re-enter and also play additional Day 1s, even if they have already qualified for Day 2. Qualified players will resume play on Day 2 with their largest qualifying stack.
